- All aspects of safety
- Hospital contacts
- Safe sex
- Crime
- Transport - TFL and taxi numbers
We looked at what a campaign is:
- A group of people coming together
Campaign - To engage in an operation planned to achieve a certain goal.
- If you get it right, you can see something that you have changed
- By tracking you'll be able to see how many people are benefiting from your campaign
We looked at examples of good campaigns:
- Battlefront - a team of young people campaigning about various issues.
We looked at a break down of what this campaign would be all about. Some really great ideas came up:
- Most of the group have HTC, Blackberry or LG mobile phones
- The main page for mobile website would be good if it popped up as a homepage
We discussed how we all use our phones:
- BBM
- Maps
- Taxi numbers
- Train times/buses/TFL
How would you use the app or mobile website?
- Taxis (no money)
- Card for family to put money on
- Finding out where things are
- Conflict resolution
- Basic first aid
- Non emergency police and ambulance services
We worked in groups to look at websites on our mobiles:
We looked at some stats:
- By 2014 mobile web browsing will take over usual web browsing
We discussed pros and cons of apps and mobile websites:
Mobile website:
PROS:
- You don't have to download it
- Easier to link
- Does lots of things
- More options
CONS:
- Can be slow
- Not all mobiles can go online
Mobile app:
PROS:
- Already on phone
- Easier to access
CONS:
- Less options
- You have to go online to access some services
- Only works on certain platforms
- More expensive
We all voted to decide whether a mobile app or a mobile website would be better to work on:
APP - 4 people voted for
SITE - 6 people voted for
So the outcome was that we will now be working to create a mobile website!
We all did a quiz to get us all thinking about websites and came up with ideas for our group name:
- P.S.Safety
- Smarties
We all filled in feedback forms and the session came to an end.
